Who We Represent
We welcome you, in a good way, to the homelands of the Dene, Cree, and distinct Métis peoples of northwest Saskatchewan. From Green Lake to La Loche, east toward Pinehouse, and west to the Alberta border.
This has been a place of exploration, travel, living, trading, and caretaking since long before there were provincial lines or maps. These lands fall within the territories of the Numbered Treaties, including Treaty 6 (1876), Treaty 8 (1899), and especially Treaty 10, first signed in this region at Île-à-la-Crosse in 1906. These sacred agreements were meant to shape the relationship between our peoples and the Crown, and they helped enable the creation of what is now called Canada.
We honour the Dene, Cree, and Métis communities whose ancestors have been here since time immemorial. All who come here are invited to respectfully walk on these lands and understand the culture, stories, and history of the people who still live here.
